Advanced Risk Management for Tradovate Accounts
Rodin K
We've received a lot of requests over the past months for more advanced risk management tools.
So we thought we'd help you out with something new.
About that “Trade Match” feature…
Well, first we almost shipped Trade Match — a way to pair you with a trading soulmate to help keep your risk in check. Tinder for traders, what could go wrong…
Quite a bit, as it turns out. Building a matching system with a user base that's 91% male comes with its own challenges. Luckily, it's April 1st, so we can just call it a joke and move on like it never happened.
Instead, let's focus on something more reliable.
Introducing Advanced Daily Risk Controls
Daily Loss Limits and Daily Profit Targets are now live for Tradovate accounts in Tradesyncer.
Daily Loss Limits
With Daily Loss Limits, you define the maximum you're willing to lose in a session. It's based on your Net P/L from the session start (6 PM ET), including realized P/L, open P/L, fees, and commissions.
Once that limit is hit, everything is handled automatically:
- Positions are closed
- Orders are canceled
- Your predefined action is triggered
No hesitation. No second guessing.
Daily Profit Targets
On the flip side, Daily Profit Targets let you lock in a strong day.
Hit your target, and the same logic applies:
- Positions are closed
- Orders are canceled
- Trading can be restricted if you want
Because giving profits back usually doesn't happen all at once. It happens trade by trade, after you should have stopped.
Why This Matters
Discipline is rarely a knowledge problem. Most traders already know what they should do.
The problem is execution.
In the moment, it's easy to override your own rules. That's when small mistakes turn into bigger losses. One trade becomes two. A controlled day turns into damage.
This removes that moment completely.
You set the rules. The system enforces them.
Simple as that.
Try It Yourself
You can find these controls in the Risk Management section in Tradesyncer and start setting your limits today.
More updates are on the way.
